Terms of Service

Effective date March 29, 2026

1. Overview

SaveLayer (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is a Shopify application that provides a persistence layer for customer interaction data, such as saved items, wishlists, and similar features.

By installing or using SaveLayer, you (“Merchant”, “you”) agree to these Terms of Service.

If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. Acceptance of terms

By installing or using SaveLayer, you confirm that:

  • You are a Shopify merchant in good standing
  • You have authority to agree to these Terms
  • You will comply with:
    • Shopify’s Terms of Service
    • All applicable laws and regulations

SaveLayer operates within Shopify’s ecosystem and must be used in accordance with Shopify’s platform requirements.

3. Description of the Service

SaveLayer provides a Shopify-native data persistence layer that enables merchants to:

  • Store customer interactions (e.g., saved products, wishlists, bookmarks)
  • Use Shopify metaobjects and metafields as the primary data model
  • Build custom storefront experiences on top of saved data

SaveLayer is infrastructure. It does not dictate how data is displayed or used in your storefront.

SaveLayer is designed to minimize external data storage and keep customer interaction data within Shopify wherever possible.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes
  • Reverse engineer, disrupt, or interfere with the Service
  • Circumvent Shopify platform limits or safeguards
  • Store or process data in violation of applicable law
  • Use the Service in a way that negatively impacts performance or stability

We may suspend or terminate access if misuse is detected.

5. Shopify platform compliance

SaveLayer depends on Shopify APIs and infrastructure.

You acknowledge that:

  • Shopify may impose rate limits and data constraints
  • Platform changes may impact Service functionality
  • You must comply with Shopify’s API and app policies

SaveLayer is not responsible for limitations imposed by Shopify.

6. Plans and billing

SaveLayer uses Shopify Managed App Pricing.

  • Billing is handled entirely through Shopify
  • Charges appear on your Shopify invoice
  • Pricing tiers and features are defined in the app listing

You are responsible for:

  • Selecting and managing your plan
  • Paying all applicable fees
  • Handling upgrades, downgrades, or cancellations

We do not process payments directly.

7. Data ownership

You retain full ownership of all data stored through SaveLayer, including:

  • Customer data
  • Saved interactions
  • Metaobjects and metafields

SaveLayer:

  • Does not own your data
  • Does not sell or monetize your data
  • Acts only as a processor providing infrastructure

Wherever possible, data is stored directly in your Shopify store.

8. Data storage and processing

SaveLayer is designed to:

  • Use Shopify as the primary data storage layer
  • Store canonical data in metaobjects
  • Use metafields only for lightweight indexing

Limited external processing may occur for:

  • Performance optimization
  • Request handling
  • Operational reliability

9. Termination and uninstall

You may uninstall SaveLayer at any time via Shopify.

Upon uninstall:

  • SaveLayer immediately loses access to your store
  • External processing stops
  • Shopify-stored data (e.g., metaobjects, metafields) may remain

You are responsible for managing or deleting any remaining data within Shopify.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • We are not liable for:
    • Data loss or corruption
    • Shopify platform issues
    • Indirect or consequential damages
    • Loss of revenue or profits

Our total liability is limited to fees paid in the 3 months prior to the claim.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

We make no warranties regarding:

  • Fitness for a particular purpose
  • Compatibility with all themes or integrations
  • Continuous availability

Use of the Service is at your own risk.

12. Changes to the Service

We may modify or update the Service at any time, including:

  • Features and functionality
  • Pricing (via Shopify billing)

We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of material changes.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes will be resolved in the courts located in Florida.

14. Updates to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically.

Changes will be reflected by updating the effective date shown above.

Continued use of SaveLayer constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
